A romantic story that revolves around Baneng and Iggy, two childhood friends who grew up from different sides of the globe. They never meet each other in person and their relationship only grew through constant video calls and having the same interest in painting. Will this be enough to bridge two hearts across the seas? Or will the surf break in the wind howling: “It was almost a love story”? (Source: Cinema Bravo)
A romantic story that revolves around Baneng (Barbie Forteza) and Iggy (Derrick Monasterio), two childhood friends who grew up from different sides of the globe. They never meet each other in person and their relationship only grew through constant video calls and having the same interest in painting. Will this be enough to bridge two hearts across the seas? Or will the surf break in the wind howling: “It was almost a love story”?
Personally, I can say that the movie was well-written and directed with passion. Director Louie Ignacio brought something new to this banquet of movies offering to flatter your senses only to break your heart in the end. A cruel end to a hopeful heart! Nonetheless, it will make you feel that yes, love is sometimes unfair. His direction on how to unravel the plot was engaging that even the movie title itself gives a red flag that something tragic will happen would be set aside for you to focus attentively on the film.
With great direction and cinematography, Barbie Forteza and Derrick Monasterio equally complemented the feature with their acting prowess. Their chemistry is on a point that they will feel so familiar even if this is their first movie together. The cinema was alive that cheering and flattery echoed the walls. I am not a fan of any love-teams but I think this two is worth to consider.
With Baneng and Iggy’s unique love story as the core is a cake of the dessert, and the film shot at Italian landscapes and architecture serves as a rich icing to cap it. This is one movie that I can say you will get the ticket’s price and much more! Being in Italy for a couple of minutes with only a movie ticket’s price is a certain eye candy. I can praise almost everything for this movie and if there is one thing that seemed to lack or I was not satisfied was the sound effects. There are times that some background sounds dominate the ambiance of the movie even if it is not needed. Though overall it was a great movie with only a few areas of improvement to be excellent.

Single/Single: Love Is Not Enough (2018) Review Movies
¨“Movie Synopsis¨“
It picks up where the series left off in its final episode as the relationship of Joee and Joey moves on to the next level. Joee is about to give birth while Joey remains in love with her and tries to become a responsible foster father.

It's evident that Veronica Velasco and Pablo Biglang-awa’s Single/Single: Love is Not Enough is quite a burdened film.
The series, directed by Pepe Diokno, written by Lilit Reyes, and co-produced by Philippine Star, taps on the pervading attitudes of millennials who are slowly being introduced to adulthood, where the gnawing need for work and money invade on their sense of generational privilege.
The show makes a lot of sense. It is very relatable, with its characters echoing work, life, and romance-related dilemmas that rarely feel artificial. Even its profit-making endeavors as shown by the several ad placements for condominium units and life insurance packages gel seamlessly with its themes.
Love is Not Enough immediately hinges its narrative on the issue that ends the show.
In a grand gesture of unconditional love, Joey (Matteo Guidicelli) declares that he wants to be with former housemate Joee (Shaina Magdayao) despite her being pregnant with another man’s baby. The film, still written by Reyes but now with the help of Jinky Laurel, focuses on the challenges of motherhood under such a unique domestic setting.
The film does offer invaluable insights on a situation that while not exactly endemic to the specific generation that Single/Single touches on is germane to it.
The more relaxed societal attitudes towards unconventional relationships allow Velasco and Biglang-awa a certain leeway to remove societal pressures from the equation and concentrate on more personal issues. For example, the emasculating effect of Joey’s not being able to properly provide in the face of another option for Joee to simply rely on her baby’s father (JC Santos) is a nice addition to the gamut of ideas that the Single/Single storyline has already introduced about the generation.

"About Joanne, a woman who hires Gio as a sticker design. Their meeting instantly makes Gio fall in love with Joanne and he does everything he can to approach her, until they finally get close, but there are situations where they have to develop in their own way."
Love makes a person grow and develop
“A romantic film with a message and impression that is quite deep but with a fairly simple storytelling. Honestly, I don't like the way Gio and Joanne were introduced, indeed acquaintance with someone can go through anything, including at work, only they are very close here instantly.. Gio is the type of guy that if you want a girl, you have to get her, and Joanne is the kind of person that if you pay attention, she'll melt herself."
Never Not Love You is now showing in cinemas nationwide. Watch Full Trailer here :

My Perfect You tackles the story of Burn (Gerald), a graphic designer who has an almost perfect life not until everything falls apart for him as he was dumped by his girlfriend. Burn felt burned out with his life as problems came left and right leaving him with no choice but to escape and because of that he met Abi (Pia) a resort owner where burn got lost in.
Abi is a bubbly, happy go lucky, but strong willed woman. She is up for the challenge of making Burn happy again until one day they realized that they didn't just made each other instead they fell for each other.
Everything seemed to be okay with Burn again, he is starting to recover from the rejection and heartbreaks, but things turned around as their love story completely 360 degrees from reality, will Burn face reality or will he use Abi to escape from it?
My Perfect You is a sugar coated bitter sweet movie, at first the movie seems to be a typical Cathy Garcia-Molina rom-com movie but I was wrong this is the first time I watched a movie that made me feel relaxed at the start of the movie and then will surprised me in the end, I felt that the movie was disguised and has two personalities that tricked me to ride the roller coaster of emotions that this movie built.
I commend the writer Christine Gabriel for writing this story, I guess I can say that this movie is a unique one for Star Cinema.
What I love the most in "My Perfect You" is that it raises awareness to certain mental health issues such as schizophrenia and depression, I felt that it is very timely specially in our society today where mental health isn't much of a priority and also I love how the movie showed how these mental illness are treated and how big the role of the family in treating these kinds of illness.
I may not be a psychiatrist, but I believe the movie was able to explain what is schizophrenia and the treatment to cure it in the easiest manner for the movie goers to understand.
To wrap things up My Perfect You is a romantic movie in disguise, it is a roller coaster ride of emotions that will bring you to the Happy Sunshine Camp. This is worthy of your money, the perfect movie to open up the summer season, an unconventional movie with an unconventional story in an unconventional characters that will make you believe that you can be whoever you want to be.
The Significant Other Movie Tagalog Romance | Lovi Poe, Tom Rodriguez, Erich Gonzales
The Significant Other (2018) The Significant Other Movie Tagalog Romance
¨“Movie Synopsis¨“
Directed by Joel Lamangan, “The Significant Other” tells the age-old tale of a cheating husband, in this case played by Tom Rodriguez (Edward), married to Lovi Poe’s Maxene - a top model who decided to temporarily walk away from her career to focus on her own family. Her eagerness to return back to the limelight prompted her husband to cheat with Erich Gonzales’ Nicole.
Distributed by Star Cinema, it’s advertised as a steamy love story, but in reality, it doesn’t have a strong romantic through-line to be called as such. But all hell breaks lose when they realize that they are in love with the same man (Tom Rodriguez).
Special Movies: Lovi Poe, Tom Rodriguez, Erich Gonzales
Country : Philippines
Genre : Drama, Romance
Production Co : Star Cinema – ABS-CBN Film Productions
The lie that Maxene created backs fire at her as her husband Edward(Tom) fell in love with Nicole thinking he is single the two commits to each other not knowing that She is bound to become a mistress.
Will Maxene be able to bring her family back together? or will Edward choose Nicole?
The Significant Other is like any other mistress/infidelity movie that we saw before, the plot, the story line is almost similar to other movies of the same genre, but what separated it from the rest is the performance of the actors specially with Lovi Poe and Erich Gonzales.
I've watched several movies of Lovi Poe and I must say that her performance in this movie is one of her best or I should say this is her best performance I've seen. I must say that I am agreeing to her that portraying the role of the wife is more difficult, but she was able to deliver it excellently.
Erich on the other hand was able to play with her character, she was able to make the character innocent and naughty at the same time, so far this is her most daring performance.
The movie got some raunchy and wild love scenes that surprised me because I didn't expected it to be that way though I must commend Lovi, Tom, and Erich for doing such intimate scenes masterfully and still with taste and not going over board, also kudos to Direk Joel for that well executed love scenes in the movie.

"Sin Island" is the type of movie best seen when you're with someone, with your partner of friends. It's a sexy yet fun and exciting roller-coaster ride of emotions. An intoxicating serving of a film that is worth the price of admission.
David (Xian Lim), a photographer, has been married to his flight attendant wife Kanika (Coleen Garcia) for two years, and they live an intimate life as a couple. One day, though, David catches Kanika cheating on him with her co-worker (TJ Trinidad), and spends some time apart from his wife by going to Sin Island (short for Sinilaban Island). At the beach, David sees a tattooed woman named Tasha (Nathalie Hart), a fashion designer who is practicing her yoga, and the two begin an affair. Meanwhile, Kanika decides to repair her relationship with David, but finds herself in conflict with Tasha, who has eventually become his mistress.
The film starts off in a rather slow but effective introduction to the pitch perfect marriage of David and Kanika. As the story progresses, we witness David plunge into depression after his business falls down the drain. Because of what event, he eventually gave up on life and retreated into staying at home, cleaning the house and doing home based works. On the other hand, Kanika ends up feeling like she is the only one carrying their whole marriage and becomes exhausted of trying to bring back the old David. She ends up being attracted to a pilot (TJ Trinidad) which David soon discovers. This forced him to take the chance to getaway to Sinilaban Island (hence the title) where he meets Tasha whom he became close and ends up sleeping with her. But Kanika soon realizes that he loves her husband more so he goes after him and decided to fight for their marriage.
But what makes this film so much more enjoyable is that it knows how to have fun. And this is very visible with the laughter and screams in the cinema when we watch the film. Gino M. Santos is one of the most promising filmmakers in the country today. And so far, "Sin Island" is his most enjoyable and entertaining film to date.
Xian Lim took quite a big risk in accepting the role of David. It was so refreshing to see him in a character like this because we have been so accustomed to seeing him in romance comedies and dramas before. Coleen Garcia was really good in portraying the role of Kanika. She has definitely gone a long way when it comes to her acting since her first movie, the indie film #Y (also under the direction of Gino M. Santos). But the real break-out star of this film is Nathalie Hart who plays the antagonist Tasha. She is like the equivalent of Anne Curtis' Kara in "No Other Woman" and Glenn Close's Alex in "Fatal Attraction". Her character goes through a lot of transformation all throughout the film and she was able to be consistent in her character. She also gets to throw most of the film's funniest and unforgettable lines like "I only give my puta self to the man I love."
Technical-wise, this is one gorgeous picture. From the beautiful location of the island to the stunning cinematography, everything is just so pretty and perfect. The scene when David and Tasha first had sex was probably one of the most beautifully shot bed scenes I've seen. It's actually way better than the past "Fifty Shades" movies combined. The execution and direction of the scene was so artistic and sexy at the same time. Then, there are those zoom in shots of the characters which add some campy feel to the movie, like those films from the 80's.And don't start me with that alluring soundtrack featuring KZ Tandingan's cover of "Isang Linggong Pag-ibig".
The film itself is made more fun because of the sudden shifts in tone from the first to the second half of the film. It change gears and turns into a "Fatal Attraction" type of thriller that will shock viewers and put everyone at the edge of their seats. People were really screaming during the final act of the film and it was so fun hearing them. I must say that Gino M. Santos definitively knows his genre because he maneuvers the film smoothly and very effectively. If he has other plans for a movie like this, then I am looking forward to it.
