¨“Movie Synopsis¨“

The story of Jesse and Celeste who meets at an unexpected time in their lives. They then realize their names are the same as the characters in the popular break-up romantic comedy, Celeste and Jesse Forever.

HOW About This Movie " Meet Me in St. Gallen " is a 2018 Philippine romantic comedy-drama film written and directed by Irene Emma Villamor, starring Carlo Aquino and Bela Padilla. In the story, Celeste (Padilla) and Jesse (Aquino) have a one-night stand and then go their separate ways, only to end up meeting again in St. Gallen, Switzerland. The film was released February 7, 2018 in theatres nationwide.

I’ve been wanting to watch this movie and finally, I did. The only thing that I wasn’t aware of is the fact that I need a box of tissue beside me while watching it alone (HAHA). But I would like to commend the director, Irene Villamor for this movie that is bittersweet yet beautifully made.

Bela Padilla and Carlo Aquino also did a great job for outstandingly portrayed Jesse and Celeste all throughout the movie. They are very versatile artist who portrayed the characters naturally. I’ve been following these two with Isang daang tula para kay Stella for Bela and Bar Boys for Carlo and there portrayal never disappoint me. I’m looking forward to see these two in one movie again.

The movie Meet Me in St. Gallen is spectacular on its own way.  I may not be an expert on movies but I love everything about this movie. I don’t know to those who watched it will agree with me, but the rawness makes it beautiful. The feelings of Celeste and Jesse speaks a thousand emotions and just being true to themselves makes it more beautiful. There’s something on this movie that you can’t just pointed out while watching it even if your heart is breaking into pieces (I did. This movie broke my heart into pieces. The feels).  The emotions are natural as well as the lines are on-point. Walang nagkulang, walang sumobra. I really appreciate the beauty of this movie because the rawness of the characters made the story more appealing plus the story transition as well as the setting.

Below are my favorite lines from the movie:

“Kaya sorry, hindi puwede. This is not acceptable. Ma’am, I quit. I resign. Mahal ko trabaho ko, pero mas mahal ko ang sarili ko.” – Celeste Francisco

“You can’t believe in something just because it’s there. Kasi kung ganun ‘yun ibig sabihin, convenience lang ‘yun.” – Celeste Francisco

“Compromise is tantamount to sacrifice.” – Celeste Francisco

– Jesse Abaya

“Magkaiba ang malungkot sa mag-isa. Solitude is different from loneliness.” – Celeste Francisco

“Alam mo ba ang ipinagdasal ko? Ngayon lang kasi umayon ang puso at utak ko at sana tama sila pareho.” – Jesse Abaya

“Tama ka eh, kasi you’re my ideal man. ‘Di ka masisira sa akin. You will always make me smile. …Baka ganito talaga tayo, dumadaan lang. Never to stay. Never to stay.” -Celeste Francisco

I can’t choose one line from the movie that strikes me the most. Kaya nga sinabi ko na everything are on-point. Walang nagkulang, walang sumobra. And the song “You’re my Sunshine” by Moira de la Torre will never be the same again. Lahat ng feels dinala nito eh.

What I learned from this movie is you can’t just let destiny do everything, we also need to take the risk and make a choice. In the last scene, Jesse made a choice and took the risk to follow Celeste in St. Gallen (The place where Celeste wanted to go. Christmas Village, Switzerland) because he believes Celeste is the one for him while Celeste thinks otherwise. Even if Celeste loved Jesse, she still made a choice even if it hurts her. Sabi nga niya, na binago ni Jesse ang buhay niya, kailangan ba baguhin ang buhay niya?

Jesse and Celeste story is one of star-crossed lovers. Tinadhana pero hindi pinagtagpo. Siguro, there love was an epic one but for Celeste, she found the love that is solitude to another man. I think they met for a reason. Parang check point sila sa isa’t-isa but never meant to stay.

Everything goes down whether to make a choice for your own or let destiny and believe. The movie bombarded us with a lot of questions, not just to the movie itself but to our choices in our lives. All I can say is, Meet Me in St. Gallen came just in time for myself.

Above all, it is your love for yourself will lead you to find the solitude kind of love that you deserve.

¨“Movie Synopsis¨“

The story of Raffy and Gela who find themselves taking off for Palawan to escape the not so great realities of their current lives and catch up on their respective me-time. But as fate would have it, they find themselves meeting and enjoying each other's company.

It's just the right mix of drama, comedy, romance, and beautiful island shots.

Raffy (JC Santos) and Gela (Ryza Cenon) meet on a trip to Palawan. They're both heartbroken solo travelers who end up in the same tour group. Because they share the same last name, they're mistaken for a married couple. When logistics problems arise, they find themselves sharing a room and spending their soul-searching vacation together.

The Short, Honest Plot

Mr. and Mrs. Cruz is a light, fun watch about getting over a broken heart.

The Main Actors And Where You Last Saw Them

JC Santos as Raffy

This theater actor-turned-TV-and-movie-star was last seen in the MMFF comedy Meant To Beh and the noontime teleserye Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin.

The story revolves around two complete strangers, Raffy and Gela, who take part in a group excursion in Palawan, each on their own. Their common, titular surname, though, has the rest of the group mistaking them for a married couple, with the two of them, eventually going along with it. Raffy is on a trip to remember and Gela on one to forget, and their past, “failed” relationships eventually bring the two closer together, even more so since they end up sharing the same room hotel. A number of visits in the beautiful sceneries of the area and an even larger number of tequila shots, make the two open up about their personal feelings, and somewhere between the dialogue and the trip, their healing begins.

As I mentioned in the prologue, Bernardo has staged the film much like a theatre play, since, despite the change in locations and setting, the majority of the movie is comprised of dialogue between the two protagonists. Due to this, the quality of these conversations is what dictates the quality of the film, and in that aspect, “Mr and Mrs Cruz” thrives. The discussions of the duo are cheerful, very interesting, as they present a number of comments ranging from social media and literature, to marriage and relationships in general, and highlight the exceptional chemistry of the two. In that fashion, JC Santos and Ryza Cenon as Mr and Mrs Cruz respectively, are great in their parts, highlighting their need to connect through an adorable, cat and mouse game of equal denial, with gusto and nuanced performances.

Since the movie would be somewhat tiresome if the dialogues took the narrative completely over, Bernardo took care of letting it function also aSans a tour guide to the beauties of the area, presenting a number of locations of extreme allure. Boy Yniguez’s cinematography makes the most of these settings, as the film also succeeds as a promo of the area. His framing, particularly during the dialogues, is also great, highlighting the psychology of the two, and how close they keep coming, in elaborate fashion.

“Mr and Mrs Cruz” is easy to watch, very entertaining, and filled with cheerfulness and beauty.

Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes (transl. The Two Mrs. Reyeses) is a Philippine comedy film starring Angelica Panganiban and Judy Ann Santos. The film is directed by Jun Robles Lana and is produced by Star Cinema, Quantum Films and IdeaFirst Company.

The film is Star Cinema's opening salvo for 2018 and will be the first movie to pair Santos with Panganiban whom she last worked with in the 2001 soap opera Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka. It also marks the reunion of the original Mara Clara stars, Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes

The film introduces the characters of Santos and Panganiban, a pair of devoted wives who find their husbands to be in a secret, gay relationship.

Ang Dalawang Mrs Reyes’ – Synopsis

Judy Ann Santos and Angelica Panganiban play as devoted wives who got cheated on by their husbands who turn out to be gay. With their combined forces, they will make sure their exes don’t get what they took away from them: a happy ending. JC de Vera and Joross Gamboa play as their husbands with Gladys Reyes and Carmi Martin as the crazy women surrounding them.

Ang Dalawang Mrs Reyes’ – Review

So, I am a little late reviewing ‘Ang Dalawang Mrs Reyes’ but I couldn’t just let it pass. To begin with, I am still a novice to the Filipino movie or drama industry but I am so excited by this movie! I have seen the trailer and the movie seemed quirky and funny and after watching the movie it was SO MUCH MORE! Seriously, I can’t even begin to express in words how great this movie was!

The Story

The story is about two women, two men and 3 couples! How? Because the men leave the women to get married together~

Basically, the story revolves around the two women, Lianne Reyes (Judy Ann Santos) and Cindy Reyes (Angelica Panganiban), who have been abandoned by their respective husbands, Felix Reyes (JC de Vera) and Gary Reyes (Joross Gamboa), to get married to each other in Taiwan. When the wives find out, their hunt down each other and concoct a plan to stalk their husbands and stop them from getting married so that they also are unhappy.

The premise of the story does seem overdone and commonplace but the director Jun Robles Lana are genius-ly put the entire story together to come out as fresh, exciting, hilarious and humane at the same time. The movie surely tugs at your heart and also gets you rolling on the floor.

This is not your typical wronged-wife revenge plot or a typical LGBTQ stereotype. This movie has a lot of levels of depth. All the characters are shown as humans who can make mistakes. Also, the characters are shown reflecting on their actions when they realize that they were not just ‘right’.

This movie, according to me, is not even a pro-queer movie. It is just a movie which shows the vulnerability of a human being and how queer or straight to whatever one identifies with, first of all, you are a human being capable of making mistakes.

Another remarkable part of the movie is that the wives who have been left by their gay husbands are not against them being gay but are just trying to work through and understand what is happening to them with their husbands. The wives just needed some time to understand and accept the realities of their husbands instead of being dumped out of the blue and finding out the next second that without even finalizing a divorce, their husbands are already off to get married. The movie delves deep into the vulnerability of a human being on several levels. Even the gay husbands are not let-off the hook scotch-free but made to reflect on their actions.

The third most important point of the movie is the deployment of humour. It is a strong yet subtle humour which is at times dark and sarcastic but will keep you laughing throughout the movie. Some of the most serious scenes in the movie are flawlessly fitted with a comic ending. Yet, this movie does not have a derogatory punchline which I really appreciated and approved. At times, I feel that through jokes and comedy skits, some serious issues get overlooked to made to look pointless which subconsciously sits in the minds of people and affects their thinking. This is why I feel that jokes targeted at particular stereotypes or malpractices or racial groups or other such humour should not be supported. Jun Lana brings to screen a non-slapstick comedy which reaches far deeper levels than you think is possible in a comedy movie.

It is produced by Regal Entertainment. It is about Abby, an ambitious millennial coming out into the world with the help of her single mother, Mina, an entrepreneur.

Young girl learns life lessons from loving mother.

It tells the story of a mother and daughter who encounters struggles and conflicts in their relationship. It brings you to journey to love, passion, compassion, commitment and forgiveness.

Mama's Girl is a heartwarming tale of mother and daughter that shows unconditional love to each other. A movie that will definitely touch your heart and make you cry. Sylvia Sanchez delivers a touching performance with a touch of coolness as mother. Sofia Andres and Sylvia Sanchez has a right chemistry to portray as daughter and mother. Mama's Girl reflects modern family life and  situations where a millennial daughter and mother canfind themselves in.

It has a good tight story which manages to be witty and affecting. The film is a good vehicle to launched Sofia Andres and Diego Loyzaga (SoFiego) as love team in the film. They bring kilig and young vibes in the film. Jameson Blake is effective as a third wheel to SoFiego. So if you want to bond with your mom or your family this movie is a perfect treat. A wonderful heart warming film with inspiring story.

1. For a story about motherly love, there was too much time spent on the landian between Abbypotpot and best friend Nico (Diego Loyzaga). He kept calling her Budz and I really thought it was short for Budjoy because they were basically playing the reversed roles of Ned and Budjoy in Labs Kita Okay Ka Lang?. Unfortunately, I was rooting for Zak the entire time.

2. While other mothers would ask their kids not to cry upon their death, Mama Mina’s loving advice to Abbypotpot was “Hindi pa ako patay. Tipirin mo na lang ang mga luha mo sa libing ko.” Eek!

3. Sofia’s a lovely girl, but the abundance of her pink blush here gave new meaning to pumuputok. At least she looked very much like a #VavaengMarangal.

4. Upon reading the words “Ang pagluluto ay parang pagmamahal. Kelangan bantayan at kapag hindi ka marunong pumili ng mga sangkap, lahat mababalewala”, Abbypotpot magically turned into a chef that could save their restaurant business. Nahiya bigla ang lahat ng Culinary Arts students.
