Review Tagalog Movie #Jowable | Kim Molina

#Jowable (2019) Review Movie

Movie Synopsis:
This is the story of Elsa–not the "Frozen," not the "Healer" but the daughter. Witness her in this story of love. Not the romantic type of love, but the type of love that you've been yearning for your whole life, but had never been by your side.

The role of Elsa in Daryll Yap’s #Jowable isn’t exactly a vehicle for an actress to flex her skill and talent.
Most of the film, she has one ambition and that is to finally have a boyfriend. The comedy revolves around her extreme desperation. The drama hovers around her state of single lovelessness. A lazy actress could easily go through the motions of inhabiting the role, mouthing the funny lines, fluttering around in self-deprecation and being gloriously silly and it would have been alright. The silly conceit of Yap’s film would be able to carry itself towards the finish line.
Comedic circumstance
Kim Molina, thankfully, doesn’t just go through the motions of playing a character borne out of comedic circumstance.
Difficult as it is, she strives to turn Elsa into something more than just a clown to laugh at in her most intimate of agonies. She makes the character, amidst the film’s efforts to reduce her to a running joke, into a complex spectacle of emotions – one who is capable of immense entertainment when she is consumed by the silliness of her life’s mission to find someone to love. Molina turns Elsa into someone you root for even when she confesses the surprising logic behind her quest.

Molina is a dynamic presence here.
She proves herself to be a fine comedienne, aware of the fact that Yap’s film thrives on humor that borders on being totally immature. She is frank and vulgar, throwing lines without a hint of shame, all in the effort of exaggerating the yearning, and making her romantic aspirations as cartoonic as possible – even if everything else in the film seems to aspire for very current sentiments and sensibilities.
Yet Molina isn’t satisfied with laughter. She also works very hard for compassion.
Mean and meandering
#Jowable seems mean and meandering in its exploration of its character’s chronic lack of love.
The laughs are definitely squeezed out of insults and inappropriate gags and punchlines. Yap doesn’t seem to see the need to please prudes and goes for the jugular, pursuing jokes that are irreverent, politically incorrect, and boorish. Make no mistake, #Jowable is funny, nearly to a fault.
Thankfully, the film evolves into something more earnest than a gag reel at the expense of a character whose life revolves around her unquenched desire for love.

The film becomes grounded, exchanging its obvious nonsense with uncomplicated and perhaps simplistic observations about what truly matters in life. If the film’s comedy is brash and blunt, its shift towards sentimentality is loud and resounding, climaxing in a very well-acted confessional between Elsa and her mother (Kakai Bautista) that displays the film’s awkward endeavor to mix comedy and drama.

Hindi Tayo Pwede (2020) Movie REVIEW " Movie Tagalog " | Once Before Movie

HINDI TAYO PWEDE (2020) REVIEW Movies

Movie Synopsis:
After a tragic car crash, Gabby finds herself in a love triangle with the ghost of her fiancé and a friend seeking more than a platonic relationship.

Special Movies:
Lovi Poe, Tony Labrusca, Marco Gumabao, Candy Pangilinan, Phoemela Baranda, Nicole Omillo

The film tells the story of Gabby who finds herself in a love triangle with the ghost of her fiancé and a friend looking more than a platonic relationship.
The topic involved in the movie is heavily crucial and can be beneficial if it will be properly managed and executed. Sadly, reality turns out to be the opposite. Love aspects, such as intimacy is significantly lacking. No attachments among characters are seen and it doesn't open up for their story in their relationship. A lot of scenes were also distributed irregularly causing to have a loophole in the movie's cohesion. The intended genre was also vague and can be easily said that inappropriate shifts regarding the category of the film are evident.
The main characters have proven themselves well in the movie. Lovi Poe remained her convincing powers and depth in the respective role. Tony Labrusca and Marco Gumabao both gave justice to their roles but not yet astonishing enough for the delivery of their dialogues.
Overall, the vibe is light and can still be fun and entertaining to watch.

It would be a blasphemous to even acknowledge or think that "Hindi Tayo Pwede" was inspired by the 1990 classic hit film "Ghost" because the film was simply that atrocious. It's rare that we find a film that we had a hard time finishing but "Hindi Tayo Pwede" falls into that category. It's silly, haphazardly made, and we think even the actors knew it resulting to uninspired and stifled performances.

Gabby (Lovi Poe) and Dennis (Marco Gumabao) have been best friends for years. Gabby doesn't know that Dennis has feelings for her. But when Gabby accidentally meets the man of her life with Gabriel (Tony Labrusca), Dennis has to accept that he will never get Gabby. But one fateful night, Gabby gets into a car accident and dies. Instead of moving on, Gab finds Gabby right in front of her eyes able to touch him and feel him but no one else. Their secret relationship last for a time but can Gabby still have a normal life when she puts her real-life around a ghost?

Oh boy, where do we start with this disaster? "Hindi Tayo Pwede" deeply affected us not because it was a dramatic film but it's one of the worst films we have experienced in quite awhile. For a film that discussed the ins and outs of writing a great movie, the film fell into the very same pitfalls and mistakes it was describing. The thing that really irked us was the lack of any direction in its story and production. The love triangle between Gabby, Gab, and Dennis was toxic at its core and the developments between these characters were rushed or forced. The film simply lacked a moral core focusing on forced drama than substantial drama. Put in the supernatural aspect and the story even got a whole lot sillier. We have to admit that the concept had potential to actually have a great hook with its take on moving on and acceptance, but the film simply failed to build and execute on this premise. Another thing that we noticed was the production and soundtrack. The songs and background music chosen just felt off (some sounding it should have been made for a comedy film rather than a drama film) and an obvious second-rate attempt at copying the song from the 1990 film we promised not to mention again. The film just felt like a rushed film. It had a lot of glaring mistakes and unnecessary bloat even for a one and a half hour film. This felt like it could have worked better being a local telenovela than a film. Overall, the actors in the film might look good but there's nothing good about "Hindi Tayo Pwede" and it was totally a waste of time.

 The Long Plot, Sans Spoilers
On a trip to Lisbon, 30-something Mae (Anne Curtis) meets 19-year-old Jericho (Marco Gumabao). The two hook up and before they part ways, they reveal to each other that they're both in relationships. Back in the Philippines, Jericho's parents make him take an internship at a museum. By chance, Mae walks in with Phil (Edu Manzano), who isn't just her boyfriend, but her husband.

Unhappy with her marriage, Mae restarts her affair with Jericho. Despite their age difference, she finds herself falling for the young man. Meanwhile, Jericho's parents pressure him to be someone he's not, and the return of his girlfriend, Febbie (Jas Rodriguez), only makes their situation more complicated.

Eventually, the state of their secret relationship starts to take a toll on both of them, with Mae wanting to be able to go public. After an unfortunate incident, Mae goes through lengths to be able to take care of Jericho. Since she's a married woman and he's a much younger man in a relationship, she is unable to go near him, much less take care of him.

The Short, Honest Plot
An attractive 30-something woman goes to Lisbon on vacation and spends her time cavorting with a teenager instead. She falls for him despite him being a university dropout with no real plans, no prospects, and with parents who still fetch him from his place of work.

At its core though, it's just another adultery movie.

Review Movie Tagalog " Glorious " Tagalog Movies 2018

Glorious (2018) Movie Review Romance

Movie Synopsis:
It revolves around Glory, a 52-year-old woman who falls in love with Niko, a guy 30 years her junior. They start a risqué May-December love affair, but will struggle to keep their relationship intact amidst social disapproval and judgment.

Star Special Movies:
Angel Aquino, Tony Labrusca, Kimberly Evers Aboy, Allan Paule, Elora Españo, Miguel Almendras

Release : 2018-11-17
Country : Philippines
Runtime : 107 min.
Stars : Angel Aquino, Tony Labrusca, Kimberly Evers Aboy, Allan Paule, Elora Españo, Miguel Almendras
Production Co : Dreamscape Entertainment Cinema

The Long Plot, Sans Spoilers

Glorious tells the story of Niko (Tony Labrusca) who falls in love with an older woman named Glory (Angel Aquino). Glory is a 50-year-old brain tumor survivor, who's still ~technically~ married with three grown-up children. She is also a potter who lives in Baguio. 22-year-old Niko, a hardware store salesman, is immediately attracted to Glory when she comes into his shop to buy a lamp. Their 28-year age difference is, of course, a big deal not just to Glory, but also to the people around them who judge their relationship. Glorious takes us on a whirlwind ride of emotions as Glory and Niko try to make their relationship work.

The Short, Honest Plot

More than just the ~*steamy*~ love scenes, Glorious tells the story of a different kind of couple, and makes us question our take on relationships and age.
The Main Actors And Where You Last Saw Them
Tony Labrusca as Niko
We first saw Tony in a McDonald's commercial in 2016 called Tuloy Pa Rin. That same year, he joined the Filipino reality search Pinoy Boyband Superstar and was part of the horror-fantasy drama series La Luna Sangre in 2017. He was also in ML in 2018, a controversial movie about Martial Law.

Angel Aquino as Glory

A FAMAS and Gawad Urian Award-nominated actress, we currently get to see Angel on the television series Ang Probinsyano, where she plays General Diana Olegario. Angel was also in the films Ang Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita, Crying Ladies, and Bata, Bata… Pa'no Ka Ginawa?

ENTERTAINMENT
An Honest Review Of 'Glorious'
The trailer did NOT prepare us for this.
by LILY GRACE TABANERA and JACINDA A. LOPEZ | Nov 26, 2018

Did You Know?

The trailer for Glorious reached over one million views in just three short hours!
Tony is actually Angel's junior by 22 years. He was born in 1995 while Angel's birthday is in 1973. In real life, Angel also has two children whose ages are 23 and 25.
During one interview, Angel said that Tony was her human blanket during filming!
Angel was actually the one who suggested Tony for the part. "When I saw him in the series La Luna Sangre, I got curious. When I was given the chance to be a part of this project, I suggested that they [the producers] ask if he would like to do it," Angel told the press.
You won't be able to see Glorious in cinemas! It's one of Dreamscape Digital's new projects which can be accessed exclusively through the streaming service iWant.

What I Think:

I am not a fan of racy films. Far from it. I like sappy, cliché rom-coms where the main characters only kiss each other at the end (wedding: optional). Glorious was definitely not one of those because it wasn't a feel-good movie. It made me think.

Tony (in his first lead role) was charming as young Niko, and Angel was utterly believable as a smitten middle-aged lady. Those love scenes (which made Twitter go cray-cray) were actually more intense than the trailer! However, Niko and Glory's many problems, and how they solved them, may have been ~just a little~ over the top.

What I liked most about the film was the relationship between Glory and her only daughter Mia (Elora Espano). It was a typical mom-daughter relationship, with Glory as the protective "I know what's best for you" Filipino parent, and somehow it made the film more real to me. Yes, Glory was the other half of a romantic relationship, but she was also a mom, a friend, and a "member" of a prayer meeting group.

The movie's ending left me hanging! I didn't know what to feel, or if I even wanted to know what the real ending would be.

What My Friend Thinks:

"When I first saw the trailer of Glorious, I was like, 'Hey, this seems so progressive and forward!' I was excited. Unfortunately, the movie did not live up to the hype. As the trailer showed, the film was sex-positive, it wanted to emphasize that 'age is just a number' (it really is, people), and that Tony and Angel LOOKED SO GOOD TOGETHER. But apart from that, I got lost in the many turns this movie took. The plot seemed simple enough but I feel it wanted to say more than it could deliver with a lot of unnecessary drama." —Cindy

I Would Recommend It To:
Tony Labrusca and Angel Aquino fans alike!
Anyone who's looking for a different love story.
Have you watched 'Glorious' yet?

Movie Trailer #hellolovegoodbye  The trailer of Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards'

This romance drama from Lumbung Padi country, directed by Cathy Harcia-Molina, first aired in the Philippines on July 31, 2019 and started broadcasting on international screens on August 1, 2019. This film tells about Joy (a girl from the Philippines who works as a domestic worker in Hong Kong ) who are the backbone of her family - her blind father, and her two younger siblings. Meanwhile, his mother remarried to a person from Hong Kong.

Joy has a dream to bring her whole family together in Canada. She graduated from nursing school and she doesn't want to just bury her dream by becoming a domestic worker. She wants to be a nurse in Canada and generate a better opinion for her family, bringing them all together.

In her daily life, besides being a domestic worker in a household, Joy illegally peddles her wares online. All of that for the sake of his dream of leaving for Canada.

What is interesting about this film?
Personally, I really admire how much struggle a girl has to pursue her dreams, while still being responsible for the financial needs of the family. Tirelessly Joy continued to work and tried to collect bills from her own sweat.

And Joy doesn't have time for love. Only dreams that he saw at this time.

Ethan's meeting with Joy.

This story really begins when Ethan - a bartender from the bar where Joy used to work - pays attention to Joy. He also finds out where Joy and love peace. His joy and all his struggles. In the introduction, it was not clear that Ethan was totally rejected because his time was only to raise money and make his dream come true for Canada.

But fate said differently. Ethan with the story of his past and also his dream of being able to attend is an integral part of Joy's story of struggle.

Ethan's Dream vs Joy's Dream.

Joy dreams of taking her whole family to Canada, just like that, even if she does manage to get her travel visa. Her father refused to move to Canada. Meanwhile, her mother who has remarried refuses to divorce to return as a whole family.

Joy wants to go to Canada, to try her luck there to be able to work as a nurse, according to the education she has taken.

But apparently Ethan has other dreams with Joy. Together with Joy, Ethan is convinced that he can become more than what he is living now. Joy awakens Ethan's dream that had been buried, and Ethan wants Joy to stay in Hong Kong and cancel her trip to Canada.
