Us x Her tells the story of a couple played by AJ Raval and Kiko Estrada whose life takes a turn for the worse after the pandemic hit and Marie suffers a miscarriage at home. Things heat up as Dave hooks up with her customer who becomes a thorn in their side.

AJ Raval still doing adequate however there are still instances that she falters with shipping of her strains. some super moments where there’s disagreement due to the fact that’s in which she’s certainly robust at. the affection scenes are quite trendy. Angeli Khang is surely upping her sport however, playing the position of Lila; a female who begins harassing the couple. Khang’s man or woman is without a doubt the one that gets plenty of juicy moments at some stage in the movie. She’s surely the one to appearance out for within the coming years.

Estrada’s Dave is an interesting person despite the fact that somebody nobody have to relate to. He’s a has-been participant and a failing businessman who receives sucked into all this trouble all because he hooked up with a woman who had cling-u.s.with him returned when he was a college basketball participant. The actor presentations an amazing range of emotions for the duration of the film and hats off to him.

Director : Roman Perez Jr.

Writer : Enrique S. Villasis

In the beginning there was only one gang who ruled Sitio Salvador -- the Diablos. Before long, it was already called Sitio Diablo. When their leader Tonix (Benz Sangalang) got arrested a couple of years ago by corrupt cop Aplaon (Joko Diaz), Bullet (Kiko Estrada), along with his girlfriend, Tonix's sister Aina (AJ Raval), broke away from the Diablos and formed their own gang called the Illustrados.

One day, a couple of younger Illustrados Garong (Because) and 17 year-old Askal (Ace Raval) were caught by members of another rival gang the Aztecs encroaching on their turf. Bullet decided to deal with Aztec leader Pons (Just Hush) diplomatically, much to the disappointment of war-freak fellow Illustrado Andi (Pio Balbuena). Meanwhile, Aplaon had Tonix released to wreak more havoc.

Fan Girl (2020)

Stars : Charlie Dizon, Bea Alonzo, Paulo Avelino, Camille Penaverde, Sheen Gener, Gie Onida

' Fan Girl '
Director : Antoinette Jadaone

Avid Paulo Avelino fan Jane meets her onscreen idol in less-than-ideal circumstances after stowing away in the back of his pickup truck, and the young stan finds out that he isn't quite the perfect man when nobody's watching.

Never has a Filipino film grappled and left me with emotional turmoil (for almost two years) until finishing Fan Girl. Here’s my complete Fan Girl Film Review:

For one, it’s a film worthy of its buzz. Since last year, it has been announced that director Antoinette Jadaone (of Six Degrees of Separation from Lillia Cuntapay, That Thing Called Tadhana) announced that she is making a film about fangirling with Paulo Avelino playing himself as an idol. As a fan of both artists, I was excited and could hardly wait.

Fan Girl was released a few months before and made it to the Tokyo International Film Festival, garnering positive reviews. Though ironic, I was still happy that the film enjoys online streams for the Metro Manila Film Festival.

The trailer could make every film enthusiast curious and excited. I heard that the early reviews had spoilers in them, so I didn’t read any. I knew there was a plot twist, and it would be futile if I get spoiled.

Again, at the start, the film made it seem like it was Paulo. Well, if you’ve been following the actor for a while, you know that he’s one cool guy who loves rock music and the rebel culture. Hence, you wouldn’t wonder.

HUGAS

Ex-gang members and newlyweds Al and Liezl run away with a big bag of cash, but their ex-boss will go to the ends of the earth to find them.

Director : Roman Perez Jr.

Writer : Jon Red

Stars :  AJ Raval, Sean De Guzman, Jay Manalo

Al and Liezel were young members of the bank robbery gang of Boss Dencio. The two lovers wanted to get married and break away from the gang, One day, some of their gangmates were ambushed and killed by members of a rival gang. Dencio decided to show their activities down and left Al in charge of their spacious hideout. Wanting a change, Al decided to convert the warehouse into a car repair shop.

We're barely two weeks into the new year and VivaMax is once again back to their old ways. It's title alone "Hugas" (or "Wash" in English) doesn't have any context to what we get in the film and it's a clear pun on sexy sounding words. It's an indication that VivaMax once again prioritizes sex over anything else on this film and you know what you'll get when you press that play button - nothing but a dumb film that overhypes its sexiness.

The movie started in a place where sexy women were washing cars. But no, this movie was not about a car wash at all. There were scenes of robbing money in a bank, but no, this was not a movie about money laundering as well. Ironically, this had to be the one Vivamax sex film where there was no prominent sex scene set in a shower or a pool. It was only at the very end, when Al delivered his final line when the title "Hugas" would make some sense.

Sean de Guzman is back in a lead role as Al, a former pest exterminator turned gang executioner. When he gets philosophical, he would talk about blindsides of various insects, as to presage a blindsiding that was going to happen to him later in the movie. However, there was no background info to show why it was easy it was for him to kill people, as it was for him to squeeze in a not-so-quickie with the bank teller in the cash room (no vault).

AJ Raval played it fearless this time as tough firearm-toting Liezel. But as was expected of her, she was also fearless in doffing off her clothes at a snap when she and Sean got into a huddle, which happened multiple times here. Matching AJ in the bosom-baring department was Cara Gonzales as Dianne, the girlfriend of Boss Dencio, played by Jay Manalo, the original Totoy Mola himself, who was a bit more modest now with age.

Familiar character actors play Dencio's gang members like Soliman Cruz (as the religious Boyong) and Bob Jbeili (as the stuttering James). Joko Diaz had a short appearance as Dencio's nemesis Dido, as the two discussed gang business and personal debts over a lunch of noodles. Director Roman Perez Jr. tried to inject some stylistic ideas in his shots, lighting and blocking.

Tittle : Palitan ( 2021 )

When a dare pushes two couples into an orgy, suppressed feelings rekindle between the two ladies, who were once bestfriends and lovers.

Director    : Brillante Mendoza

Writer : Honeylyn Joy Alipio

Stars : Cara Gonzales, Jela Cuenca, Luis Hontiveros

After the uneventful first hour, Mendoza immediately upped the ante of cinematic eroticism by throwing in two all-nude menage-a-quatre sequences, one right after the other. The first was when groom, his best man and his new friend all had a go with a lone prostitute at the same time in a cramped washroom at the stag party. The second featured the four main actors going at each other side by side au naturel on a rocky shelf of a running brook.

Among the four main actors, it was Cara Gonzales who was given the most well-developed role as Jen, and she rose to the challenge of confidently portraying this conflicted character. Gonzales actually had easy chemistry with both lusty Luis Hontiveros and sweet Jela Cuenca. Cuenca in fact had more romantic chemistry with Gonzales than she did with Rash Flores, who looked ill-at-ease and self-conscious the whole time compared to the others.

Mendoza threw shade about the local practices of matrimony. He showed how people would rather go into debt or depend on sponsors' cash gifts just to get the wedding of their dreams. Strict and religious fathers swore by benefits of a union sanctified by the Catholic Church, yet could not keep his own marriage intact, nor keep his daughter safe from abuse.  This may be an erotic film first, but Mendoza was still able to get his social realism in.

Sisid (2022)

A marine biologist tasked to rehabilitate a fish sanctuary, falls for Dennis, his diving assistant. The situation takes an unexpected turn when Jason’s wife, Abby, finds out of the clandestine relationship between Jason and Dennis.

Stars  : Paolo Gumabao, Vince Rillon, Kylie Verzosa, Christine Bermas, Irma Adlawan

Director  : Brillante Mendoza

Marine Biologist Jason and his wife Abby goes to Pola, Mindoro where he is tasked to lead the rehabilitation and preservation of a fish sanctuary. There, he meets his diving assistant Dennis and the two hit it off instantly.

As days and the world is getting older–so as people evolve as well. Brillante Ma Mendoza‘s SISID is a film that could reflect what humans have become these days.

Love cannot be love if there is no tolerance. Perhaps that’s what the filmmaker is simply trying to tell today’s audience. Judging on how the approach of the film’s storytelling, it’s not formulaic, but it retains elements that sell to the old or young moviegoers.

SISID is about a mature married man who got smitten with a soon-to-be father young man.

The married couple, Jason and Abby (Paolo Gumabao and Kylie Versoza) have been trying to have a baby for over five years but to no avail because of the latter’s illness.

During Jason’s assignment as a marine biologist, where he had to lead the rehabilitation and preservation of Pola, Mindoro’s fish sanctuary–he met Dennis (Vince Rillon), his diving assistant.

The two hit it off instantly.

Dennis has a problem of his own—his girlfriend Tanya (Christine Bermas) is pregnant.

As days went by, both Jason and Dennis developed feelings for each other—eventually giving in to their sexual desires. Things got even more complicated when Abby caught Jason and Dennis in the act.

In the end, both men had to part ways.

Its plot is simple. Mendoza made it complex because of his approach to his actors to portray the characters he imagined as two-dimensional.

The silence employed in the film and the scenic underwater cinematography promise its audience an adventure they can experience through the lenses that the international director has captured in his lenses. Moviegoers would feel like diving into the ocean’s bed, together with Jason and Dennis.

The location is a perfect setting to develop the budding relationship of the two male leads. True, the ocean has this kind of pull on Jason, drawing him nearer to the mystery of Dennis’s personality. Mendoza didn’t intend to create a spectacular kind of production design.

The natural beauty of Pola, Mindoro is enough to contrast the couples’ life in Manila. Jason’s exploration of the place is like exploring his newfound fondness toward Dennis.

Kudos to the sensitive acting of its lead stars–Gumabao, Versoza, and Rillon. Mendoza succeeded in encapsulating the emotions of the characters via the actors’ nuanced acting.

J.A. Redmerski’s words in The Edge of Always are reflected in SISID, “I guess sometimes the greatest memories are made in the most unlikely of places, further proof that spontaneity is more rewarding than a meticulously planned life.”

What is admirable about this piece that Mendoza did was his efforts in not exploiting his actors to expose much of their skins. He chose to tease his audience instead. The BL theme that Viva may be trying to capitalize in promoting the film–is not a screaming one. It’s up to the moviegoers if they’d tag it as a BL story.

Attraction to the same sex like man-to-man can be a spontaneous encounter, not necessarily a serendipitous, romantic affair all through and through. In short, Mendoza didn’t force the bond between Jason and Dennis to progress further. It’s up to the audience to interpret its possible continuing story.

Angeli Khang, Paolo Gumabao, Sid Lucero | Peek at the Fire (2022) Review Movie

Angeli Khang, Paolo Gumabao, Sid Lucero | Peek at the Fire (2022) Review Movie

Original title:  Silip sa apoy

Peek at the Fire  ( Silip sa apoy  )

Synopsis :

Peek at the Fire (2022) Original title:  Silip sa apoy

Take a peek at the life of an unhappy housewife who finds passionate love from her neighbor and how their affair brings them closer to fire.

Genres    : Drama

Cast          : Angeli Khang, Paolo Gumabao, Sid Lucero, Jela Cuenca, Massimo Scofield, John Drey Guevarra, Dexter Doria

Director  : Mac Alejandre

Vivamax’s Silip sa Apoy, the controversial erotic drama starring Angeli Khang, Sid Lucero, and Paolo Gumabao, will awaken the little peeping tom in all of us, or at least in audiences who will watch the movie on the streaming platform.

There’s a little voyeur in all of us. Whether you admit it or not, we’re obsessed with watching other people. Some even get satisfaction from peeping into a stranger’s life.

Written by Ricky Lee and directed by McArthur C. Alejandre, the drama centers on the dilemmas of   Emma (Angeli), a young woman who is tired of living with her alcoholic husband, Ben (Sid), for he becomes violent whenever he’s drunk, finds a knight in shining armor through Alfred (Paolo Gumabao). He is their new neighbor who lives beside them. Every night, Alfred peeps through the holes of the wall and witnesses marital abuse.

Alfred and Emma eventually fall for one another and have a secret relationship and Alfred promises that they would run away together to escape the wrath and violence of Ben, giving Emma hope to finally have the freedom she’s been longing for.

The film will not leave anything to your imagination but the young sexy actress explained that she never felt exploited while doing the scenes that could offend some conservatives.

“Sobrang alalay po sila sa akin dito. They never took advantage of me while doing our love scenes. Maingat po sila and pinoprotektahan nila ako and I really appreciate that,” she went on.

For Lucero, his role as a drunkard and an abusive husband has a specific message that they want to share with the audience.

“I think it’s high time people actually see how evil it is. I learned a lot doing this film and I certainly hope our audiences will learn a thing or two as well,” he said.

Playing another sexy role, Gumabao discussed that the challenge in his role lies in his task to show off some skin and still be able to act.

“They’re really pushing me to my limits and I’m being pushed outside of my comfort zone. It’s not only about showing skin. It takes a lot of focus to be butt naked and then still be able to act,” he stated.

“To date, this is the most challenging role I have played,” said Angeli, who already appeared in other titillating films Taya, Mahjong Nights, and Eva, during the movie’s online press event.

Gumabao also believes that the film will open a discussion about marital and domestic abuse.

“Cases of abuse are usually taboo. It’s either the victim is too afraid to speak up or nahihiya sila and it’s a shame really. I really hope this film would open up discussions about it,” Gumabao, who himself have starred in a string of sexy films of late, shared.

Described by the director as a dangerous yet alluring story.
